Pupil Voice
Malden Parochial's Pupil Voice
The School Council and Faith Team have come together to form the Pupil Voice Group.
At Malden Parochial, we value the benefits of operating Pupil Voice. This group represents the whole school and as a school we operate as a Christian community. Through the Pupil Voice, it is hoped that we can develop a balance and wholeness, helping to make our community a harmonious place to live.
Our Pupil Voice work enables pupils with positive attitudes to exert a positive influence. Everyone will benefit from the work of Pupil Voice. It is a chance for pupils to share their views and feel part of the school's development.
The team have helped to develop our prayer corners in each class, reviewed our R.E. Learning Journeys and will help the Deputy Headteacher plan ideas for the Worship Rota to make worship engaging and interesting for the pupils.
Our Pupil Voice encourages our children to:
Develop confidence and responsibility and make the most of their abilities
Prepare them to play an active role as citizens
Develop good relationships and respect the differences between people
Have a “voice” and to share their opinions and ideas with others
Think about what makes our Church of England School so special and are pivotal in supporting our Christian Ethos and Vision
Our Pupil Voice aims to ensure our children have:
A safe, happy and fair learning environment
A forum to voice their concerns and act upon them
A structured opportunity to learn problem-solving skills
An opportunity to take an active role in the organisation of the school
An opportunity to experience a democratic process
Our Pupil Voice should encourage pupils to develop:
A sense of ownership over policy and practice
A consensus over school issues such as behaviour
A responsibility towards the school community and environment
Our Pupil Voice will give pupils the experience of:
Planning, organising and monitoring school-based projects
Speaking and listening skills
Debating skills
Mediation and negotiating skills
Organisation:
Two representatives from Year 2 upwards, who are selected by their class
Link teachers
An agenda is to be organised by the link teachers
The agenda and minutes will be recorded by the children in a Pupil Voice Book. The minutes can be shared with the children in class as a starting point for discussion.
The members of Pupil Voice have a responsible job. They will talk through information and views with their class before bringing their thoughts to the Pupil Voice Meeting. Our team meet every half term to discuss how we can develop and improve our R.E. and Collective Worship.
Each term, the children in Pupil Voice will write and deliver an assembly or act of worship.
